A&E WANTS TO ROCK THIS SUMMER WITH DEE SNIDER AND HIS FAMILY OF SIX ON LONG ISLAND IN THE NEW REAL LIFE SERIES “GROWING UP TWISTED”
PREMIERES TUESDAY, JULY 27 AT 10 & 10:30 PM ET/PT
NEW YORK, NY – June 30, 2010 – What happens when Dee Snider, the legendary front man of heavy metal group “Twisted Sister,” is the “quiet one” in the family? “Growing Up Twisted” follows the outrageous and oddball daily pursuits of the Sniders, who think their zany world is just real life, perfectly normal... only it's not. The seven episode series premieres with two back-to-back half hour episodes on Tuesday, July 27 at 10 PM and 10:30 PM ET/PT.
“Growing Up Twisted” explores suburban life in Long Island through the eyes of an off-beat but tight-knit family of six who are fiercely independent, strong willed and unafraid to speak their minds.

A voice that helped define a music form has been silenced. Ronnie James Dio--the voice that inspired legions of singers--is gone. He was a great influence on me and I am grateful that I got to tour and hang with the man. Kerrang magazine once said, he had a voice that could pierce chain mail. True, but it could also be so tender it would make you weep. Ronnie was small in stature, but had the voice of a giant. Thank God we have all his amazing recordings, so future generations will know the talent that was Ronnie James Dio! Now raise your metal horns in the air in his memory! - Dee Snider
While the Take Back the Horn movement has gone worldwide, with hundreds of thousands of headbangers supporting and joining the mission, I am taken aback by some of our community’s inability to take this effort in the spirit it is offered. Clearly the humor of the situation (the mainstream taking our symbol of metal solidarity in an attempt to make themselves appear more “rockin’”) is not lost on myself, or the majority of the heavy metal community, and that the spirit of the TBTH movement is fun…but with a degree of annoyance and aggravation. Yet there are some “metallurgists” out there (albeit a very small percentage) who are actually getting angry with both the website and yours truly; lashing out with all sorts of derogatory comments and hostility. To them I say, “Fu—I mean, why…so…serious?” Lighten the hell up. If you don’t want to get involved, fine, but attacking your own for trying to actually do something positive for our community…that just makes you one of “them.”
